Idea of what being brave is because honestly I’m sick of people saying they’re brave when they’ve never really been afraid

Bravery.

To be brave.

To not be afraid?

Scratch that last one.

That’s the real myth right there.

In all honesty if you’re not afraid, is that even an act of bravery?

I don’t think so.

In fact, I think the very presence of fear is what defines brave things.

The bravery lies in those moments where you heart is beating so loud you can barley hear the words around you. Bravery is wanting to run away, to not stand up, to pretend you didn’t hear or understand, and speaking up anyway.

Bravery is sitting at the front of the bus. Bravery is knowing you could be arrested and doing it anyway.

So be brave where you can.

It’s also ok to let things pass on by, don’t think this is a post demanding you be brave all the time.

But what happens when all of us are brave some of the time?

Maybe, just maybe, that’s where the world changes.
