Unf*ck Yourself

First off, I really like how straight forward Gary is, I know there were reviews that spoke of how offensive he seemed but in all honesty I feel like there's a huge generation gap.  In all reality I feel like he speaks the way we’d speak to a good friend who we love but-honestly-if-you-don’t-start-listening-I-don’t-know-what- I’m-going-to-tell you friend.

I found myself nodding my head at multiple passages, one of the biggest ones for me was the idea that we are where we are because of us. Not because of anyone else, not because of circumstances but because of how we’ve chosen to live, from what we’ve decided we deserve.  This is definitely right up my alley. I truly believe that we have the power to choose differently, to make good choices choice by choice.

Bishop speaks much of action, how we can choose to act contrary to the way we feel inside, to be brave when we are scared, to do things out of our comfort zone and really challenge ourselves to be who we want to be. He speaks on how we speak to ourselves, on the importance of our internal dialogue and how it affects the way we interact with the world.

These things, I think, we can all agree on.  What we say to ourselves matters. Who we think we are, matters. The choices we make, matter. We can, at any moment, choose to be better.

Who are you when you look to the best version of yourself? What do you have to choose differently to be that person? When will you decide enough is enough and start that journey?
