Redefining the definitions that no longer serve us, or how to start a revolution

Immature. Flamboyant. Unprofessional.

What do these words mean?

We can look up the words online and find their “definitions” right?

Right?

Right?

So?

So what if there are “definitions” we can read, examples we can be given?

So what if maybe, just maybe, these words need to be redefined?

What if we look at things on a case by case level? And really say what we mean?

“She’s so immature.”

Is she?

What makes her immature? Actually, what makes you think she’s immature?

Is it even about her? Or is it about you? About what you think the definition of that word means and what you’re afraid people will see in you?

What if, just what if we begin to challenge our own definitions? What if we begin to embrace that we must look to the actions of others not just the superficial things we make so many assumptions on?

All of sudden we're faced with tangible, pramatic measuables. What do they do? Are their actions immature? Unprofessional? Or is there implicit bias here becasue she likes Squishmallows and tends to talk in a higer pitch and loves to color?

When you step back, do you see that her actions are immature? Or is she incredibly strategic in her thinking and able to set specific, measurable goals that she can later explain in great depth? (Yes, I'm thinking of someone in particular here. Oddly specific much?)

If we take that step back, what do we really see?

Do we see a confirmation of that bias? Or is it refuted by the actions we see?

Why don't we start a revlution together?

How?

By redefining these words that no longer serve us.

What's your word?

Go on, dig deep.
