Perceptions, assumptions, and the beauty of being human

Let’s talk about perceptions. How they change the way we interact with the world. How they color the way we think, how they are really just assumptions.

Right?

That’s what it means when we don’t really know. We assume.

We react to our idea. And in that idea lies our trauma, our hope, our fears, and all our possibilities. At that moment as we process how to react, we have all those things at our disposal, so we can choose. We can choose how to interact.

But choosing doesn’t mean ignoring what’s really in front of us.

Choosing just means our reactions and interactions are based on the very best version of ourselves.

Now, this won’t happen all the time. There will be times when our reactions are “wrong” or we misinterpret things and wish we could go back.

But that’s human, isn’t it?

That’s the very beauty of our nature. Our fallibility and our ability to assume.
