Mental Health Day

Some days are harder than others. Sometimes we work so hard that we expect ourselves to always work so hard and we don’t really allow ourselves to rest, to recuperate. Instead we choose to soldier on, pushing through all the red flags that are trying to tell us to take a moment. Then at some point we just can’t take it any longer and poof! We crack.

When we begin to truly love ourselves, we listen to what our body and minds tell us. We hear that maybe today isn’t a good day to go for a 3 mile run, maybe today we should sit and watch a movie instead, we hear maybe today I want to just sit and read my book all day and we don’t judge ourselves for listening.

I think somewhere along the line we lost track of what’s really important in so many ways. We really do put ourselves through the ringer, we beat ourselves up, we say things to ourselves that we’d never allow someone else to say to a loved one. And then we wonder why we can’t concentrate, why we’re not as productive, we just don’t feel good. I mean how can we?

So today I want to task you with the challenge of really beginning to listen to yourself and beyond that not judging yourself for actually listening.
